UNESCO updates its list of damaged cultural heritage sites in Gaza

UNESCO is conducting a preliminary damage assessment for cultural properties through remote monitoring based on satellite imagery and analysis provided by UNITAR/UNOSAT, as on-the-ground assessments are impossible in the current situation.

As of 10 June 2024, UNESCO has verified damage to 50 sites since 7 October 2023 – 11 religious sites, 28 buildings of historical and/or artistic interest, 2 depositories of movable cultural property, 4 monuments, 1 museum and archeological sites.
