Participatory Engagement in Museums Research Study

The University of York would like to invite those who work in museums, to take part in the research project: Participatory Engagement in Safeguarding and Progressing Cultural Heritage in Museums. Follow the link to read about the project in more detail and find the survey.

The Participatory Engagement in Museums research project aims to investigate the sustainability of participatory approaches in museums and develop a network of museum researchers and practitioners interested in participatory approaches and their sustainability.

The project is delivered by Dr Harald Fredheim and Dr Stella Basinyi in the Department of Archaeology at the University of York (participatory-museums-project@york.ac.uk) and Dr Patoo Cusripituck and Dr Jitjayang Yamabhai in the Research Institute for Languages and Cultures of Asia at Mahidol University. The project has been given ethical approval by the Department of Archaeology Ethics Committee at the University of York, which is chaired by Dr James Taylor.

If you wish to take part, you will be invited to complete an online questionnaire about participatory approaches at your museum. The questionnaire is likely to take you approximately 30 minutes to complete. If you provide your contact details, you may also be contacted for a follow-up visit and interview by the research team. You will also be invited to participate in a virtual knowledge exchange event, where you will be presented with preliminary findings from the questionnaire and have the opportunity to share reflections and network with other museum professionals.
