ICOM UK has commissioned Viktor Sobiianskyi, a Ukrainian cultural manager, to write a series of reports on how the current armed conflict has impacted on Ukrainian museums, theatres and creative life.
Viktor Sobiianskyi (born in 1987) is a Ukrainian culture manager, theater curator, and lecturer. He is a graduate of Karpenko-Kary Kyiv National University of Theater, Cinema and Television (2008), Richard Wagner Fellowship Program (Bayreuth, 2008), training program ‘The Academy of Culture Diplomacy’ (Warsaw, 2013) and training for the Leaders of Youth NGOs (Visby / Stockholm, 2015).
Head of Theater Platform NGO and the project manager of the Polish Institute in Kyiv, Viktor previously worked as a scientific advisor of the Les Kurbas National Center for the Theater Art, literature manager of Golden Gate Kyiv Theater, lecturer of Kyiv Academy of Circus and Variety Art.
He is an expert for the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation, and a recipient of the Theatre Award Kyiv Pektoral, and the All-Ukrainian Award The Coronation of the Word. Viktor is curator of The Workshops of Polish Choreographs, Directors and Playwrights, The Festival of Young Ukrainian Directors named for Les Kurbas, International Summer School for Theater Curators and series of international workshops, supported by British Council, Czech Center and the Austrian Forum.
Viktor has participated in many international conferences and festivals across Europe and is the author of over 50 articles at socially-political issues and about 20 scientific publications. He is a member of the Eastern European Performing Arts Platform.
