Launch of the ICOM Global Survey on Collections in Storage

In early April of this year, ICOM President Emma Nardi launched the Global Survey of Museum Collections in Storage.

This survey is a follow up action to Resolution 4, on measures to safeguard and enhance collections in storage around the world, which was passed in Kyoto in 2019. The ICOM Working Group convened for this purpose, has developed the survey, and aims to gather information on collections in storage, in order to draw up a report on their conditions and future. The issues raised in this survey are fundamental to understanding the place of collections within museums. For this we need a strong participation from all regions of the world.

If you work in a museum, please complete the questionnaire by clicking on the link below or send it to the person in charge of collections and asking them to answer it? It is important that your museum’s voice is reflected in the survey.

We thank you in advance for your contribution to this project, which is so important for our worldwide network. Please send your responses by 11 June 2023.

The working group intends to use these results to organize an international conference on museum reserves around the world next year.
