My name is Imogen. I’m a MA Museum Studies student at UCL looking to start a career in the museum sector, particularly collections management.
I’m using the time I have before I graduate to explore other career paths in the museums, to ensure I don’t miss out on falling in love with a position I haven’t thought about before. That’s why I wanted to do a marketing placement; you never know what you like until you’ve tried it! I also think it’s important to know the basics of all aspects of museums so that I have a better understanding of the sector as a whole.
I’m doing my dissertation on how 3D models affect meaning-making for visitors. I believe technology can make exhibition spaces more engaging and allows visitors to gain different perspectives and make different meanings rather than when looking at objects alone.
If you have time, I would love to talk to you about your career paths and where you see the sector progressing in the future!
