IMD Think Piece by Mr Gong Liang, Director of Nanjing Museum, China

Museums should display varied cultures as much as possible, and provide knowledge, exhibitions and education programs, diverse not only in form, but also in content, therefore catering to the needs of different visitors.  Museums should afford equitable, non-profit, and convenient services to the public, with no barrier arising from the difference of their gender, age, educational background, income, religious belief, ethnicity and so on.  Plus, museums should pay special attention to disadvantaged groups, making contributions to mediate relations between different groups, break down the solidified class stratification, and enhance communication and understanding among cultures.

Facing the complex social problems of the moment, museums should do something about it.
