This conference will provide a space for big conversations, expansive questions, and new ideas. With each day will start with two keynote speakers, one international and one from Colombia, who will engage the attendees in a discourse around one of the following topics: community engagement, power sharing, and co-creation. The goal of these conversations is to generate diverse and though-provoking reflections. These conversations are the new narratives that our museums and communities envision. Each afternoon, participants will visit local museums where they will have the opportunity to explore, learn and discuss how museums in Medellin are serving their community in new and different ways. And because we are in Colombia, each evening will provide the chance to celebrate new friends, build new learning communities, and have fun!
Momentum: New Narratives for New Futures is presented by the International Committee of Exhibition Exchange and ICOM-Colombia and is hosted by Parque Explora. The goal of this conference is to support the work of museum and cultural professionals in Colombia, Latin America and across our entire global membership. Efforts have been made to make attendance economically accessible for students, independent professionals, and regional professionals, making Momentum the most important cultural event in Colombia this year. Additionally, Momentum is committed to sustainable practices in identifying strategies to lower our carbon footprint, including: low paper waste, use of public transportation, providing digital access, and using locally sourced food.
