ICOM Global Survey on Collections in Storage – submit a response before 11 June

The ICOM Working Group on Collections in Storage is working on an exciting and ambitious project to find out more about museums’ storage facilities and reserve collections.  The Working Group has produced a global survey on collections in storage, which was launched by the ICOM President on 4 April. The aim of the survey is to have an international view on storage, as we know that this is an important, but sometimes somewhat neglected issue for museums.

The Working Group is chaired by Prof. François Mairesse of the Sorbonne Nouvelle University (in copy here) and has engaged a researcher who will work on analysing the results.  It is particularly important to the Working Group that the survey has a widespread regional representation.

To date, very few UK museums have responded to the survey. If you are responsible for storage in your museum, please take some time before Sunday 11 June to submit a survey response. The survey takes about 20 minutes to complete. If you are not responsible for storage, please take a moment to forward the survey link to your relevant colleague(s).
