Museums and cultural institutions around the world are invited to apply for the 2027 Bank of America Art Conservation Project, one of the world’s leading programmes supporting the conservation of historically and culturally significant artworks. More than simply restoring artworks, the programme helps cultural institutions to uncover new stories within their collections while also protecting the specialist expertise at the heart of the conservation.
Over the past 16 years, the Bank of America Art Conservation Project has supported more than 275 projects across 40 countries, helping conserve everything from iconic Old Master paintings such as Rembrandt’s The Night Watch, and contemporary artworks including Nam June Paik’s Eagle Eye and murals in Sydney Opera House, to medieval manuscripts like the Black Book of Hours, Matisse’s La Négresse, ancient bronze objects such as Shang dynasty Zun wine vessel, and countless other culturally significant works.
“Art has a unique ability to connect people across cultures, generations and geographies,” said Brian Siegel, Global Arts, Culture & Heritage executive at Bank of America. “By supporting the conservation of important works of art, we help preserve our shared cultural heritage and ensure these stories continue to inspire and inform communities around the world.”
Applications are open to non-profit and charitable museums and cultural institutions seeking support to conserve works of art or heritage objects that are on public display, or will be once conservation is complete. Works could include paintings, works on paper, photographs, important books or manuscripts, textiles or works of decorative or applied art that are in danger of degeneration.
Proposals should be submitted via www.bankofamerica.com/artconservation with applications closing on Wednesday 30th September. Following submission, proposals will undergo a review process by the Bank of America Art Conservation Project team along with the Art Conservation Project Advisory Panel.
