Experience ICOM Prague 2022 online!

For the first time in ICOM’s history, you will be able to follow the ICOM General Conference and meet other participants online, from your home… or from anywhere!

The design for the hybrid 2022 ICOM General Conference format includes a digital dimension to the traditional in-person event, ensuring all participants an equal opportunity to attend, in a decisive step towards greater participation and inclusiveness for ICOM conferences.

The new format is also more sustainable, allowing us to significantly reduce the environmental impact of the conference. ICOM trialled this new format in a pre-conference to ICOM Prague 2022, hosting a hybrid International Symposium for the first time in the organisation’s history, with 850 online participants joining 230 onsite participants in Prague from August 25-27.

From 20 to 28 August 2022, the key events of the scientific programme will be accessible online, from keynote speeches to panel discussions, from workshops and round tables to committee meetings. Details of the programme and timetable can be found on the ICOM Prague 2022 website or app.

This is a wonderful chance for all to experience the great programme with more than 500 lectures, workshops, roundtables, seminars etc., while being able to interact lively, asking questions and challenging the debates.  All of this will happen on an exclusive Conference virtual platform – gCon and you will be able to access all the content there upon registration. Even for an excursion day, we wanted to make sure you can be with us, so there are online excursions prepared for the remote participants.

You can very quickly register for remote participation HERE

As keynote speakers, we will welcome Margarita Reyes Suárez, an anthropologist and museologist with more than 30 years of experience in the development of participatory projects for Colombian museums; Hilda Flavia Nakabuye, a Ugandan climate and environmental rights activist who founded Uganda’s Fridays for Future movement; Lonnie G. Bunch III, the 14th Secretary of the Smithsonian; Hilary Carty OBE, the Executive Director of the Clore Leadership, the UK’s most established provider of leadership learning and development and Seb Chan, the Chief Experience Officer at ACMI in Melbourne.
