ICOM UK is seeking an experienced freelance facilitator to design and deliver a 12-month programme of anti-racism training, EDI policy review, and cultural sensitivity awareness for our board of trustees and part-time contractors.

What we’re looking for

We’re inviting quotes from facilitators with:

  • Expertise in EDI, anti-racism and/or culturally sensitive practices (sub-contracted expertise for specific elements is welcomed if you don’t cover all areas)
  • Experience integrating training into the working practices of small charities
  • An interest in the museums and cultural heritage sector
  • Experience in sensitive facilitation and inclusive practice

You’ll need to be registered as self-employed with HMRC and hold professional indemnity insurance of £50k.

About the role

ICOM UK’s trustees are volunteers based across the four nations of the UK and the Cayman Islands, working alongside three part-time contractors who deliver our strategic aims, manage our membership, and oversee our communications. The programme will support up to 14 trustees and 3 contractors to build a stronger anti-oppressive, anti-racist consciousness across our governance, policies and day-to-day work.

Sessions will cover core EDI and anti-racism principles, unconscious bias, inclusive and culturally sensitive communication, ethical community engagement, and practical tools for embedding this learning into board meetings, policies and procedures.

Workshops (a minimum of three) will be scheduled online, with dates agreed collaboratively. As one trustee is based in the Cayman Islands, the earliest possible start time is 12 noon UK time.

How to apply

Please submit:

  • A quote and outline of how you would deliver the brief
  • A cover letter and CV outlining relevant experience
  • Two referees we can contact after interview, if required

Send your application to co-chair2@icomuk.org, with “EDI+ Facilitator and Training” in the subject line, by midday Monday 27 July 2026.
