Peace Curator Prize for the Western Balkan region

During the international museum conference of the Balkan Museum Network, titled “Safeguarding Cultural Heritage in Time of Crisis”, held on April 18-19, 2024, Merima Ražanica was proudly announced as the recipient of the first-ever Peace Curator Prize. This prestigious award celebrates her exceptional contributions to peace-building and heritage preservation in the Western Balkans.

The ‘Peace Curator Prize’ is a new award that is open to museum professionals from the Western Balkan region – Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia.

The award is open to museum professionals who have

  • developed an activity that has opened up difficult or dangerous questions and connected different people
  • promoted non-violent communication and peaceful resolution of conflict
  • fostered an environment of inclusivity and mutual respect and created spaces for intercultural an inter-generational dialogue
