The digitalisation process of museums is one of the massive projects for the new generation of museum developments. And among many of its components, digital collections act as an integral part of museums’ online offerings, of which the audience’s digital experience is designed, engaged, and enriched. For the ICOM UK Student and Emerging Professional Event in September, Han Jiang will introduce her PhD research on ways engagement drives the design of online collections, and discuss factors that influence the design process. She will draw on case studies in the UK and Europe to outline and compare different methods of making online collections more engaging for their audiences.
The purpose of our events is to create a community for conversations and to reshape the museum’s future with ICOM UK.
We welcome all voices that you can bring for further discussions. We look forward to seeing many of you.
Han Jiang is a PhD candidate at the School of Museum Studies, University of Leicester. Her research focuses on audience engagement in the design process of museums’ online collections. She held an MA in Museum Studies at UCL.
