Affect of postal strikes on ICOM UK membership applications and renewals

Unfortunately, the UK postal strikes in November 2022, combined with the usual delays in UK and international postal services over the festive period, has affected ICOM UK membership applications and renewals.

The strikes in November coincided with out busiest period for applications and renewals. Thanks to members reporting issues, we are now aware that many cards and stickers sent between 14 and 21 November 2022 have been severely delayed or have not arrived. It is also taking longer than usual for new ICOM cards to arrive from ICOM’s head office in Paris.

Louise Bevan, ICOM UK Membership Manager, is working extremely hard to respond to emails about lost stickers/cards, while at the same time continuing to process the large number of applications received over the festive period. Please bear with us if it takes longer than usual to reply to membership enquiries, and please be assured that we are working hard to send out replacement stickers and cards as quickly as we can.

At the moment, ICOM does not offer a digital membership card option (it is under discussion as part of the 2022-28 ICOM Strategy) but ICOM UK will be advocating for a digital membership card option for members.

ICOM UK is grateful for the continuing support of its members and we apologise for any inconvenience caused by stickers/cards arriving later than expected, or needing to be replaced after being lost during the postal strikes.

Thank you for your understanding. If your card and/or 2023 sticker has not arrived one full calendar month after you have paid for your membership, please contact Louise at membership@icomuk.org
