This year, ICOM UK in partnership with the British Council offered two bursaries for emerging professionals to attend the ICOM Triennial conference in Rio de Janeiro from the 10th- 17th August 2013.
The successful recipients of British Council and ICOM UK travel bursaries to attend ICOM’s 23rd General Conference from 10th to 17th August, 2013 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil were Dana Andrews from the Victoria and Albert Museum and Capucine Perrot from Tate Modern.
Capucine Perrot is Assistant Curator of Contemporary Art and Performance at Tate Modern, where she manages and coordinates the programme of performances and interdisciplinary projects. Previously she worked at the ICA and the Serpentine Gallery, London. As well as benefiting professionally and personally from attendance at the General Conference, she intends taking the opportunity to organise studio visits with artists and curators from the region with a view to working with them within the ongoing programme of collaborations in Tate Modern’s Project Space.
Dana Andrew is the Senior Exhibitions Co-ordinator at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Attendance at the ICOM conference will enable her to make new contacts in Brazil, with a view to developing a greater understanding of how the V&A could work more closely with Brazilian museums, especially on developing temporary exhibitions by Brazilian artists, and in furthering the relationships with prospective venues to host two major touring exhibitions in 2014 and 2015.
