Applications now open for May 2025 start for MA Curating and MBA Cultural and Creative Leader Level 7 apprenticeships

Teesside University is now recruiting for its two flagship apprenticeships for the cultural sector including museums to start this May. These courses can upskill existing staff or add apprenticeships to new posts, this is the UK government apprenticeship scheme operating in England only. The master’s courses are uniquely developed for the Level 7 apprenticeship standards for Curator and Senior Leader respectively. This means the courses are awarding both a master’s degree and a Level 7 apprenticeship. The courses utilises the current government levy for Level 7 apprenticeships, so there is no or little cost to organisations and learners. Learning is hybrid through online seminars and intensive weeks in London or Middlesbrough so accessible from all over England, currently used by organisations including Science Museum, Imperial War Museum, Tate and regional museums from Cornwall to Northumbria.

The next deadline for joining the courses is 20 April 2025, and this is potentially the last opportunity before the government announce changes to the Level 7 funding structure. Contact James Beaumont our Partnerships Lead J.Beaumont@tees.ac.uk for these apprentices in the first instance to begin the process or for webinar dates to find out more, and also see our Arts Professional article about how these widen access for the sector. MA Curating is also available as a standard or advance practice route for self-funded UK or international students (including by post graduate loan in the UK).
