To help promote the reopening of museums and galleries to a Scotland-wide audience, MGS will launch their #MuseumsAreGo campaign on 26 April. It will be a multi-channel campaign, like last year, utilising PR, radio and paid social media advertising. This proved effective in getting the message out that museums were now ready to welcome visitors back safely.
This Google map, showing where museums and galleries are open with website links, will be central to the campaign again and will be MGS’s main call to action across all activity. MGS has also produced a promotional video that will be used as part of the campaign. This can be accessed through the toolkit, for you to share across your own social media.
To find out more about the campaign as well as how you can get involved, visit the MGS website.
Marketing support and surgeries
Alongside the campaign, MGS will also provide marketing support for those museums who may not have the budget or expertise to undertake their own marketing. This includes our Reopening Marketing Toolkit and Top Tips for a No Budget Campaign.
MGS is also offering new Marketing Support Surgeries. These can be booked online and will offer a one-to-one, one-hour session with Louise and Rosie from the Marketing and Communications team at MGS, who will be happy to chat with you about any marketing activity you have planned around reopening, as well as the tourism season ahead.
Reopening Plans and Sector Needs survey
For those museums who are planning to reopen, MGS needs to know what your plans are. This will ensure the Google map is up to date, and that they have reopening examples for use across all PR activity. If you have not already done so, please complete the Reopening Plans and Sector Needs survey. It closes 26 April.
The survey results will also allow MGS to make the strongest advocacy case on behalf of Scotland’s museums and galleries.
Keep in touch
The Marketing and communications team at MGS is ready to discuss any of the activity above in more detail. Please also continue to keep in touch with the wider MGS team about any concerns or questions you might have around reopening.
