In 2018, the FIHRM (Federation of International Human Rights Museums) Conference will be hosted in North America for the first time, in Winnipeg, Canada, at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR). It takes place 25 - 28 September 2018.
The conference is doubling as the ICOM-COMCOL annual meeting, with a conference theme of Contemporary Collections: Contested and Powerful. Museum collections are not only more contested than ever before, but also hold more potential to effect social, environmental, and political change. This dynamic is reflective of the global state and the more active role museums are playing within it as change agents, promoting dialogue, understanding, and human rights.
