Students, museums professionals (practicing individuals, consultants and retired folk) and institutions involved in the museums, galleries and cultural heritage sector who adhere to the ICOM Code of Ethics can join ICOM UK and enjoy the following benefits:

  • Free or discounted admission to museums worldwide with the ICOM membership card, institutions receive three ICOM cards in the name of their institution or department

Membership forms should be printed off and sent to the ICOM UK office.

Payment

  • Cheques should be made out to ICOM UK and sent with the application form to the office
  • BACS payments should be clearly referenced with your surname and membership number
  • It also helps us to send remittance advice with your application form
  • Postal orders made payable to ICOM UK are also accepted

Procedure

Membership details will be processed in the ICOM UK office and then sent to the Secretariat who issue the ICOM membership card (and return to the UK office for distribution).  The ICOM welcome pack (including the International Committee information and ICOM News) is sent direct to new members from the Paris office. 

Membership term

ICOM membership is annual and runs from 1 January to 31 December of the year for which subscriptions are paid.  New members joining after 30 September may pay these subscription rates for the following year; their membership will become effective immediately and will expire on the 31 December of the following year.

Applicants for retired membership should provide evidence of their former status as a museum professional.  Applicants for student membership should append the name and address of their university, together with an explanation of the way in which the course is museum related.

You will find the ICOM UK renewal form below. Please take this chance to update your contact details on the form and supply us with a relevant email so that we can contact you with ease.  Forms and cheques should be sent to the ICOM UK office who will send you the 2010 sticker.

Jiscmail

Jiscmail is an academic email distribution list maintained by ICOM UK used to keep the membership aware of events and changes within the organisation.  We will also post relevant international committee information through the list. You can subscribe to the list be sending an email to the ICOM UK office, or by logging onto http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/

If you would like to post information to the ICOM UK membership please send your formatted information to the ICOM UK office. (We may edit your message and cannot send out attachments).

Currently 70% of the ICOM UK membership are on the Jiscmail distribution list.
